MEDANZ Roots & Branches Show 2015

The Middle Eastern Dance Association of NZ’s 2015 Roots and Branches Festival offers dance and drum workshops, theatre and casual performances, social activities, teachers workshops, and a Sunday Bazaar & Open Stage at St Andrews College in Papanui, Christchurch, 17-19 April 2015.  All dancers, as well as the general public, are welcome.

This years splendid Roots and Branches themed Festival show is directed by the divine Pip-E-Lysaah and produced by Aaralyn of Tribal Diva. Join us on a journey through the many and varied influences on belly dance through the ages. Featuring performances from our special guests and selected New Zealand belly dancers, this is a spectacle not to be missed, canvassing the full spectrum of belly dance, from the glitz and glam of Egyptian cabaret, to the darker side of Tribal Fusion, and the spice and grace of Indian, Asian and ballet influences on this ancient dance form.

Our very special international guest performers have come all the way from Adelaide and Brisbane to dance for us. We are thrilled to welcome the mesmerising Evangeline Feary, Director of Cinnabar Red Dance Collective and professional performance troupe Ruby Dhatura, and the delightful Nerissa, Co-Director, Teacher and Performer at the Queensland Bellydance Academy.

Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Run time approximately 120 minutes. Tea and coffee will be available at half time for a koha.

We look forward to seeing you there!
